Medical exemption processes depend on the sport practiced by the athlete.
The following Canadian athletes must comply in all respects with the requirements set out in WADA’s International Standard for TUEs.
- Athletes included in any Registered Testing Pool;
- Athletes who attend international events;
- Athletes that have been specifically notified in advance;
- National-level athletes that will be participating in Canadian national championships in the sports specified by CCES.
All other athletes do not require a TUE, but may undergo a medical review to validate and permit the use of prescribed medications for therapeutic reasons.
