Substances prohibited at all times (in- and out-of-competition)

Non-approved substances (S0)
Any pharmacological substance which is not addressed by any of the subsequent sections of the List and with no current approval by any governmental regulatory health authority for human therapeutic use (e.g., drugs under pre-clinical or clinical development or discontinued) is prohibited at all times.

Anabolic agents (S1)
This class of substances includes anabolic androgenic steroids such as nandrolone, testosterone and androstenedione. It also includes other anabolic agents such as clenbuterol and SARMs.

Peptide hormones, growth factors and related substances (S2)
This class includes substances like EPO and human growth hormone. It also includes insulin, which is commonly used by diabetics and requires a TUE.

Beta-2 agonists (S3)
Beta-2 agonists, which are commonly prescribed for the treatment of asthma, are all prohibited in sport. Two inhaled beta-2 agonists (formoterol and terbutaline) require a TUE.
New! Formoterol by inhalation up to a maximum daily therapeutic dose of 36 micrograms is not prohibited. 

Hormone and metabolic modulators (S4)
These drugs interfere with the function of estrogens or female hormones and are often used in the treatment of cancer. Examples in this class include tamoxifen and clomiphene.

Diuretics and other masking agents (S5)
Masking agents are prohibited, including probenecid and plasma expanders. Prohibited diuretics include hydrochlorothiazide, triamterene, but not drosperinone or topical dorzolamide.
New! Local application of felypressin in dental anaesthesia is not prohibited. 

Substances prohibited in-competition

Stimulants (S6)
All stimulants are prohibited, and grouped into specified and non-specified. A few non-prohibited stimulants such as caffeine are included in the monitoring program.
Reminder! Methylhexaneamine is also available under several other names, for example, dimethylamylamine, pentylamine, geranamine, Forthane, 2- amino-4-methylhexane, geranium root extract or geranium oil. Read our advisory note.

Narcotics (S7)
Only certain narcotics are prohibited such as fentanyl, morphine, and oxycodone.

Cannabinoids (S8)
Natural or synthetic Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and THC-like cannabinoids (e.g. hashish, marijuana, HU-210) are prohibited.

Glucocorticosteroids (S9)
All glucocorticosteroids are prohibited and require a TUE when administered by oral, intravenous, intramuscular or rectal routes. 

Substances prohibited in particular sports

Alcohol (P1)
Alcohol (ethanol) is prohibited in-competition only, in certain sports including archery, boules, karate, and modern pentathlon. The doping violation threshold is 0.10 g/L.
New! Alcohol is no longer prohibited in ninepin and tenpin bowling (FIQ).

Beta-blockers (P2)
Beta-blockers are prohibited in-competition only, in certain sports such as archery, shooting and golf. 
New! Bosbsleigh and skeleton (FIBT), curling (WCF), modern pentathlon (UIPM), motorcycling (FIM), sailing (ISAF), wrestling (FILA) are removed from the list of sports in which beta-blockers are prohibited.
